    Treatment and Control

Infestation Treatment and Control..

Damp Tech have fully trained surveyors in the identification of all woodworm and rot attack.

Timbers in the structure of a building with any form of woodworm or decay we would recommend that a full timber survey is carried out to identify the type of woodworm or infestation and a suitable treatment.

When confronted with a piece of infected timber our surveyors will determine the woodworm attack by a sequence of observations and a trained eye, plus a good magnifying lens.

Observations:

  • The size of the holes.
  • Hardwood or softwood.
  • Big or small holes.
  • Round or oval holes.
  • The texture of the frass present.
  • Is there moisture present?

All treatments for woodworm can be different depending on the conclusion of the survey.

Most Common Woodworm:

  • Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium Punctatum).
  • Wood Boring Weevil (Pentarthrum huttoni).
  • Deathwatch Beetle ( Xestobium rufovillosum).
  • House Longhorn Beetle (Hylotrupes bajulus)

More Examples Of Woodworm…

Forest Beetles…

Most of the infestation takes place in the forest and on many occasions seasoned timber cannot be infected, the oval tunnels in softwood and hardwood is a perfect example, more information will be provided on request as you may come across this problem in new furniture.
